Does the name Renzo Rosso ring any bells? Let me rephrase the question. Does the name Diesel ring any bells? If you’re still in the dark as to what I’m referring to, allow me to inform you. Renzo Rosso is one of the largest contenders when it comes to fashion entrepreneurs.
Friends state him as the “Jeans Genius” while most might distinguish him as the president and founder of the infamous brand, Diesel. Are you all now saying to yourself, “duh?” Well there’s honestly no need for that–sometimes there are just too many designers out there for us to keep track of. Then again if you’re a fashion devotee like myself, this type of information comes naturally.
So here’s another question I would like a whack at. What is there left to do you when you’ve already pretty much conquered the world of fashion? How about buying a nice chunk of an already well-established label? If you’re Renzo Rosso, that’s exactly what one does. It seems Rosso’s company, Only the Brave which is home to labels such as Maison Martin Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, and Diesel; has decided to add another label into the mix.
The particular design house that has been considered for the job is non-other than the eccentric Milan based label, Marni. The brand was founded in 1994 by Gianni Castiglioni and his wife Consuelo who just so happens to be creative director for the brand. This will be a great achievement and gain for both parties seeing as both of the brands are similarly successful in rank.
“It’s my big dream, to create a modern group that is an alternative to the existing ones. We are beginning to become one such group, and we are working on consolidating it.” Rosso said in an interview with Vogue.com. Seeing as Rosso’s company has been prosperous in the past, I’m sure his dream to create a modern group that is an alternative to existing ones will surely become a reality in no time.
